Solar & Wind Curtailment

← Grid Monitor Menu
How curtailment is measured: Per resource, per 5-min SCED interval: max(0, HSL − Base Point), summed to MWh per hour. HSL = declared capability; Base Point = ERCOT dispatch instruction. Captures congestion and oversupply curtailment even at positive prices. Source: ERCOT 60-Day SCED Disclosure data — available ~61+ days in the past.

Read before comparing years (rates not levels · Dec 2025 triad)

Rates, not levels: SCED switched ~Dec 2025 from 15-min to 5-min intervals. Prefer % of Potential for year-over-year. Absolute MWh are sampling estimates.

Dec 2025 triad — three unrelated changes near 2025-12-05; do not conflate:

  1. SCED disclosure cadence (measurement) — 15→5 min; inflates raw MWh ~3× if unnormalized.
  2. RTC+B go-live (market design, PUCT 48540) — real-time AS co-optimized with energy.
  3. EIA-930 ESR attribution (reporting) — battery charging was under-counted pre-Dec; do not claim batteries “flipped” post-RTC+B from EIA net flow alone.
